As the chill of winter deepens and Hobart begins to glow with the fiery spirit of Dark Mofo, The Lady
Nelson, invites you aboard for its much-loved Redding the Sails evening cruises.
We love offering something a little different that brings people together during the winter season.
The atmosphere on board is incredible - warm, festive, and just a little bit magical. It’s a special
way to connect with our maritime history while enjoying what makes Hobart so vibrant in winter. A
truly unique and unforgettable way to experience the River Derwent.
A two-hour harbour sailing event filled with warm hospitality and festival magic 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Guests are invited to don their finest red attire and step aboard for a twilight voyage as the Lady
Nelson transforms into a blazing beacon of crimson, gliding past Hobart’s luminous waterfront and
the atmospheric glow of the Dark Mofo festivities.
Dance, sing and clap along with the live music.
- Friday 12th June: The Ravens: This four-piece band merges American Blues roots with UK alt-rock edge. From ballads to anthems, their dynamic performances combine heart, groove and swagger, leaving a lasting impression.
- Friday 19th June: Lines Like Water: The performance moniker of Rob Hortle, this artist blend poetic soul with musical heart. Captivating audiences in Australia and the UK, his folk-punk and rock and roll mix shines at pubs, festivals, and charity events. Since returning to Tasmania in 2023, he’s been a staple at Hobart’s top venues, energising every event.
- Saturday 20th June: Storm Bay: Back again this year by popular demand, this lively duo brings Irish spirit to life with energetic performances full of Irish and nautical folk tunes. They invite audiences to dance and sing along, creating an unforgettable experience.
- Enjoy the city lights of Hobart from the water.
- Hearty soup, snacks and refreshments included. You are also invited to BYO food and drinks.
- Historic replica of the original Lady Nelson brig that the first settlers to Hobart arrived in.
- Haul on a line, steer the ship or just relax and enjoy the experience of Tall Ship sailing.
- Meet the captain and chat with the volunteer crew.
- Come dressed in red.
