The T’Gallant

Have you taken your chance to do your ESS* course FREE?

ESS = Essentials of Shipboard Safety, provides comprehensive, practical training about personal safety, crew (and passenger) safety and safety of the vessel as a whole during a shipboard emergency – particularly fire and abandoning ship. It is mandatory that a proportion of the crew on every sailing of the Lady Nelson have ESS certification, so this is a good chance for members
to gain this recognised qualification. There are 6 free ESS places available in 2009 to members of Lady Nelson TSTA – they are provided by Seafood Training Tasmania (Hobart) in exchange for using the Lady for their training courses late last year.

Normally members are required to pay $50, the rest of the course being subsidised by the TSTA.
However these 6 spots are FREE to the first 6 crew members who send their name to Rob at: rob.thomas@education.tas.gov.au The only conditions are that applicants must attend the two days of the course and pass the test.
You will also need have a current First Aid Level 2 certificate (at your own time and expense) to get your ESS certification.

ESS courses are scheduled in Hobart 2009 on Thursday and Friday for the following dates:

11 -12 June; 13 -14 July; 27 – 28 August; 1 - 2 October; 23 -24 November; 3 – 4 December and 17 – 18 December
